Saturday 3rd November 2007 - 400 people came to Newcastle Harbour and 250 blockaded the shipping channel. The protest was the start of a community non-violent direct action campaign to prevent the planned massive expansion of coal exports from Newcastle Harbour.

On Saturday March 21st, 2009, approximately 500 people converged on Newcastle Harbour to take part in the fourth People's Blockade of the World's Biggest Coal Port. The protest succeeded in stopping all coal ship movements for the day. Click here for more info.
