NSW Coal Action Alert
This year will see the beginning of a rolling direct action campaign to pressure the State Government to take control of the coal industry, stop the acceleration of greenhouse gas emissions from export coal, and lead NSW forward into a post-coal economy. In Sydney this month, major NSW and international environment groups resolved to take a series of actions to stop the expansion of the coal industry in NSW, and the grassroots movement against export coal has been steadily building momentum over the last two years.
Now, no matter where you are, you can take part in direct action against this reckless industry, that not only fuels climate change, but clears native woodlands, cracks rivers and rides roughshod over public interest and due process.
The fight against export coal and climate change is shaping up to the defining environmental campaign for our time.

ACTION 3: Walk-in somewhere in the Gunnedah Basin,
Remnant woodlands, rivers, aquifers, fertile farmland, and the global climate are threatened by plans to massively expand coal mining in the Gunnedah Basin region of NSW. Several mines are already having major impacts in the region. In mid-2007 (yes, during uni and school break!), there will be a action/camp at a mine in the Gunnedah Basin.
