Community picket against CPRS bill

This Thursday, the government's disastrous CPRS legislation goes to the vote.  The CPRS is Rudd's attempt to convince the public that he is acting on climate change.  However, the CPRS rightly been called 'worse than nothing'.  It involves locking us in to a carbon trading scheme with minuscule reduction targets (5-15% by 2020) and massive handouts worth $16.4 billion to big polluting companies.  A large part of Australia's "reductions" in emissions will most likely involve companies buying dodgy carbon "offsets" from developing countries.

It is vital to ensure that their is vocal opposition to the government's CPRS when it goes to the vote (and not just from the Opposition)!

So come to a picket outside Kevin Rudd's office (70 Phillip Street) this Thursday at 12pm and let the government know that the public demands real action on climate change -- no the CPRS, yes to renewables!
