Nearly 50 people joined sections of the 5,500-kilometre journey, travelling from Newcastle to the Northern Rivers, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and back again. From ages 18 to 83, joining from as far as Lutruwita/Tasmania, Central Queensland and Kaurna Country/Adelaide, we were a diverse bunch brought together by a deep commitment to fight for a better world.
Along the way, we met hundreds of amazing Rising Tide members in their hometowns, joined exciting blockade info events, and participated in civil disobedience actions for climate defence!
It was incredible to see such enthusiasm building for the blockade: from Canberra crew planning to book out a whole train carriage to travel to Newcastle, to folks from South Australia committing to get over 200 to the blockade, to Newcastle locals organising in their neighbourhood to cover the town with promo.
Did you see the civil disobedience actions? In Canberra we glued on in the foyer of Parliament house to tell Albo to "stick to climate action not coal & gas", in Melbourne we dumped a tonne of cow manure at Labor MP Peter Kahlil's office to send a clear message to Labor that their climate policy is bullshit.
